Genital Yeast Infections
No one is immune to yeast infections, and it is not only women who can suffer from this but men also can get genital yeast infections. Sorry guys, you too can have the horrible itching and burning too. Everybody has the yeast Candida albicans and yes males too. When there is too much of the Candida albicans in our body it will lead to yeast infections. What makes the Candida to multiply? Well for men, it can be through unprotected sex, but don’t blame the woman entirely as it can just as easily be the other way round.
Also antibiotics are good at killing off the good and bad bacteria and we need the good bacteria in our system as it controls the growth of yeast. So when we have been on antibiotics for some time and with the good bacteria gone, then the consequences are an irritating yeast infection. Unfortunately the yeast loves sugar, don’t we all! But people who have diabetes are more subject to getting genital yeast infections because the sugar levels in their bodies are high. Also if we continually eat bad foods, like too many sweets and other junk foods, then we are our own worst enemy. Men who have HIV/AIDs are prone to yeast infections because their immune systems are weak.
It is not always easy to tell if you have an infection, some men may be lucky and don’t even know they have a genital yeast infection because they don’t show any signs. But it is better to be safe than sorry and check if you have any of these signs: a reddish rash; annoying pain and tickling at the head of the penis; a smarting feeling when urinating; and a white discharge.
The good thing is you can get antifungal creams from your local drugstore, but if it does not go away you should consult a health-care professional. Also if you are suffering from genital yeast infections, do not have unprotected sex as you could be passing it on to your partner. And if both of you are infected you need to be treated at the same time, and it is wise not to have sex until you are both completely healed.
So for you men out there, you now know that yes you can get genital yeast infections and know the symptoms to check for. Don’t be embarrassed; women have to go through the same thing. Get treatment quickly, it’s not worth putting up with the uncomfortable itching and it does make you feel miserable. There are good treatments available and also natural remedies which are well worth investigating. It is important to learn as much as you can about any kind of treatment, and if you do have concerns see a health-care professional. The important thing is to get rid of it fast and permanently.
